To Warm Your Heart

CCEP Food Pantry

Donna Fix, who runs the Colton Helping Hands Food Pantry with her husband George

At Christmas we received a note of thanks from Donna Fix, who with her husband George runs the Colton Helping Hands Food Pantry. “It is wonderful,” she writes, to receive so many pounds of supplies to help fill the 156 boxes they give out every week, packed with dry goods, canned items, and more:

“They went to the families of need—most all were impacted by the fires where they lost their homes, barns and outbuildings, and trees. Some were just evacuated for up to 2 weeks, losing their electricity, losing everything in their freezers and refrigs. Some folks haven't found some of their animals yet.”

She goes on: Your donations go a long way in helping and we are so grateful for your help. The families that receive these boxes are very grateful too—they tell me every time they pick one up. Thank You for your support.

Our CCEP Food Pantry often receives notes like this, and we wanted to share this one with you because . . . it warms our hearts, and yours deserve to be just as warm!

Thank you Mark!

Our Sexton, Mark Amoredios, who appears in both image , has been moving and organizing the donated food products in the Food Pantry. His organizational skills have made a big difference in using the limited space that we have along with making it easier to find specific food items.

Once again, our parishioners have come through to fill our Food Pantry shelves with canned, dried food and infant products to help our community outreach. As of this week, the shelves have been cleared by William Temple House volunter, so we are ready for new donations.

William Temple House is one of our special Outreach projects. On December 7th, William Temple House representatives Jenn and Annie loaded 470 pounds of food donations from CCEP parishioners, and took our donations directly to their Food Pantry.

The combination of COVID, job losses, and increasing hunger means the number of clients and families visiting the William Temple House Emergency Food Pantry has increased tremendously— your donations are a huge help in this time of extra need. Their Food Pantry is only one of many services that they provide to the Portland Metro area.

This year we have distributed over 3,600 pounds of food that you, our responsive parishioners and neighbors, have donated.

This year, our Parish Food Pantry has distributed goods to:

  • William Temple House
  • Colton’s Helping Hands Food Pantry (fire evacuees and victims)
  • Tualatin School House Food Pantry
  • LOTSM (Lake Oswego Transitional Shelter Ministry)
  • Tender Loving Care/Think 'n Try (TLC/tnt)
  • Potluck in The Park

Let's keep up this Good Work! You can drop off your bags of food donations in the lobby next to the church office, Tuesday through Thursday, 9 to 1 PM, or in the Food Pantry basket in the Narthex. The Sunday drive-thru Food Drop-off baskets have helped.

We are requesting a variety of canned food products, including canned fruit, soups, beans, along with dried goods such as cereal, rice, and pasta. Infant formula is just as essential and serves as a critical part of our mission.

Please note: Expired food products are dangerous. Please check expiration dates before you donate.

Thank you, CCEP Parishioners and to everyone, for your help and please keep those food pantry donations coming!

If you have any questions, please reach out to: Steve Whittaker.
